ACTIVITIES REPORT OF DECEMBER 2010:



• A 5-day collection program = Rs. 28,155/-

‘MISSION 5’ ACTIVITIES :-
1. WINTER CLOTHES COLLECTION DRIVE :

- - Team Mission5 announced among college students, Mission5 volunteers, and our patrons in companies such as ST Ericsson, G7 Tech Solutions, RAGA Hospitality, to donate old winter clothes like sweaters, jackets, pullovers, caps, blankets etc. to be distributed to elderly members at Shree Shirdi Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded, Kithigannur.
- The collected winter clothes will be distributed in the month of January 2011.

2. ‘CAMPFIRE’ - WINTER FUN EVENTS & WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS :
- DAY 1 – Bonfire Night: Campfire kicked off with kids at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe [KAMMS] dancing around bonfire, played games, sang songs & offered hot turmeric milk to beat the chill. [11th Dec]
- DAY 2: Decoration Workshop: Kids and M5 volunteers together decorated the orphanage with color papers & lights, to welcome Xmas & New Year. [19th Dec]
- DAY 3 - Sketching workshop: Kids were taught basic sketching techniques using pencil by an M5 volunteer. [22nd Dec 2010]
- DAY 4 - Mud Workshop: Kids and M5 volunteers together made a Christmas crib and decorated it with toys, colour papers and LED lights. [24th Dec 2010]
- DAY 5 – Painting Workshop: Kids were given basic tips in water colour painting by an M5 volunteer. [26th Dec 2010]

3. BLOOD SUGAR CHECK-UP CAMP AT ELDERLY HOME :
- Team Mission5 organized a blood sugar check-up at Shree Shirdi Vrudhashram & Home for Mentally Retarded, Kithigannur. [4th Dec 2010]
- All 50 elderly members residing at the old-age home were checked for their blood sugar levels.
- The two-hour long camp concluded with students advising the elderly members on proper diet and regular exercise to control blood sugar levels naturally.

4. XMAS CELEBRATIONS WITH KIDS – SWEATERS TO ALL :-
- Team Mission5 celebrated Christmas Day with children at Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe on 25th Dec 2010.
- Kids received gifts and goodies like dresses, toys, dolls etc., from a life-size Santa Claus. Following each child received a special Christmas gift – a sweater. The event concluded by singing Christmas carols, prayers and a speech by a pastor.

5. ESSENTIALS TO ORPHANAGE, TUITION FOR KIDS :-
- Donated essentials such as vaseline lotion, vaseline gel, bathing soap - 5, to
Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe [KAMMS]. [23rd Dec 2010]
- Screened cartoon show - Tom & Jerry at KAMMS. [5th Dec 2010].
- Celebrated birthday of Chandru and Surya's by cutting a cake. [12th Dec]
- Celebrated birthday of Pratibha and Sudha's at the orphanage. [23rd Dec 210]
- Donated 30 Crocin tablets and 30 deworming tablets to KAMMS. [27th Dec]
- PRAYAS PROJECT – Under this co-curricular development project of
Mission5, seven children from KAMMS studying in English medium schools
are given daily tuition on all major subjects, by an M5 volunteer.

6. AHAR PROJECT - 248 LITRES MILK, FRUITS TO TWO ORPHANAGES:
- Mission5 provides 4 litres of milk everyday to two orphanages – Jeevitha Anathashram & Kannada Adarsha Mahila Makkala Samsthe [KAMMS].
- Kids at KAMMS are offered a glass of milk and fruits for snacks, daily.

7. ‘3HELP 1CHILD’ – PAYMENT OF TUITION & TRANSPORT FEES :-
- Paid tuition fees of 7 kids - Nagmani, Pratibha, Jyothi, Surya, Chandru, Saraswathi, Anthony Franklin, studying at St. Gasper's Vidyalaya, Parvati Nagar, Bangalore -49.
- Attended the Annual School function of kids studying at St. Anthony’s School, Bosconagar, Bangalore -49.
- Paid transport fees for the month of October 2010 [Rs. 2,500/-] for 13 children from KAMMS studying at St. Anthony's School, Bosconagar. [25th Nov 2010]
- ‘3Help 1Child’, a flagship project of Mission5, supports 32 needy children to go to school by funding all their educational expenses.

8. “MISSION 5” IMPACT :
- Karthik, a resident of Padmanabhanagar, Bangalore donated toor daal – 5kg, urad daal – 5kg & raggi - 5kg to KAMMS.
- A group of students from Garden City College, Bangalore donated wheat flour - 5kg, sugar - 5kg to KAMMS.
- Vishal from Pune donated cooking oil - 4litres, sugar - 2kg, suji - 3kg, washing powder - 4kg, toothpaste – 1tube, to KAMMS.
